Kick Start your Detox With Dry Skin Brushing
Dry skin brushing is a fantastic way to invigorate your body, improve circulation, and promote lymphatic drainage. This simple yet effective technique can leave your skin glowing and your body feeling refreshed.
Body brushing is microcirculation that helps to remove dead skin cells from the surface of the skin. This will achieve a brighter, smoother, and improved skin tone.
Body brushing is great for –
- Dry, Dull and Flaky Skin: Body brushing removes dead skin cells from the surface, leading to a smoother and softer skin, allowing for better absorption of moisturisers.
- Cellulite: Body brushing can help reduce the appearance of cellulite by breaking down fatty deposits.

- Ingrown Hairs: Regular body brushing can help prevent and reduce ingrown hairs by keeping the pores clear by removing dead skin cells that might block hair follicles.
- Water Retention: Body brushing encourages the movement of lymph fluid, which will help drain and reduce water retention. This will promote the elimination of toxins from the body.
Tips: Always perform body brushing on dry skin, before showering.
Brush upwards, using long gentle, sweeping strokes towards your heart. This direction supports lymphatic drainage. For example, begin at your feet, brushing in an upward direction. The same with your arms. Begin at your hands brushing in an upward direction towards your shoulders.
Use circular motions around joints, such as knees and elbows.
Ensure you brush all parts of your body, including the soles of your feet, legs, arms, back, abdomen, and hands.
I would only recommend brushing your face, with a brush specifically designed for facial skin.
Body brushing should be done 2-3 times per week. This helps to maintain smooth and healthy skin without causing irritation.
It’s best to use a natural bristle soft brush with a long handle to reach all areas of your body that are difficult to get to.
There are different body brushes, such as:
– Natural Cactus hair brushes
– Tampico plant fibre bristles,
– PVC body brushes,
– Dual-sided brush with soft and stiff bristles.
– Long handle for hard-to-reach areas, in-which some handles are removable.
For best results, use on dry skin, have a shower, then apply your chosen body moisturiser or body oil.
Body brushing can also be combined with an oil or a moisturiser.
First, apply your chosen oil or moisturiser to your skin and then brush in the recommended steps above.
Tip: Do your dry skin body brush routine, then apply your chosen body salt scrub to your body before showering. Once done, apply your chosen moisturiser for an extra spa at home experience.
